For admission in UIT you will have to secure a rank below 10,000 in WBJEE. If you are a resident of Bengal you can get in by just your 12th Marks and Domicile.

UIT, BU is located in Bardhamman and is affiliated by Burdwan University. It is around 3 Kms from Burdwan Railway station.

The college comes under Burdwan University and it is the only college that is under BU (Burdwan University).

According to Wikipedia, UIT has an area of 400 acres and I want to make it clear that it isn’t 400 acres at all. It is very small and there is just a playground behind the college. The college has 2 Hostels in the campus. One for girls and One for boys of 2nd and 3rd Year. To save the 1st year students from Ragging, They are kept in Banabas Hostel around 2kms from the college. There is a pond infront of the main building. There are 2-canteens and a cycle stand.

Labs are present and all equipments are there but not to be used by everyone. Students are made to use the equipments in the groups of 5. The classes of the 3rd and 4th Year are at the bottom and rest all above. The first and second year classes are in the 2nd floor. CSE Department is at the bottom, IT & AEIE on the 1st Floor.

Hostels of 2nd and 3rd Year

Faculty is good over here. A few are guest faculties and most are permanent. Most of them have received there degrees from local colleges and a few from renowned ones. The teaching system is like schools and attendance of 75% is compulsary. Though in the first semester no fine will be charged for less attendance but in the preceeding semesters The college charges fine. Teachers are friendly and supportive. Most of them have passed from UIT itself.

The library contains ample books for engineering and most of them are not updated. The library charges fine after 45 days. There are also a few computers in the library connected with the Internet. Students use the computers in the library itself. Newspapers are present in the library and old magazines too.

The college is not cleaned in a daily basis and most of the classes and the campus is dirty. The staffs are lazy but they do complete there works 2-3 Days late.

Most of the students here are from Bihar and Burdwan itself. Around 80% crowd here is from Bihar, 10% from Burdwan, 5% from West Bengal and 5% from Jharkhand. The crowd is okay. Creativity lacks and innovation isn’t a priority. Studnets come to college for just attendance and in the 1st Year there are 60 Girls to 300 Boys. Boys and Girls interaction is very less. Students are allowed to wear any clothes except in some labs they have to wear formals.

For a 4-year B.E course you need to pay 2.5 Lakhs with hostel included only. TCS, Haldia Chemicals, Tech Mahindra etc. Much can’t be said about the placements and the highest placement goes about 4Lakhs and average is around 2.9 Lakhs. Most of the students here prepare for GATE, CAT and IAS. As placements is not good.

UIT is a below average college but it is in its developing phase and placements and other facilities may improve in the furthur years. Burdwan is an old fashioned place and the lifestyle here is very poor. Exposure will be least and not much internship opportunities. If you have problem with money and are looking for a semi-government college, You can consider UIT.
